The Hidden Bad Word

As I was sitting in my Relief Society lesson this last Sunday our discussion took an unexpected turn where one Women told us about her dislike of the work just. I was so confused at first but thats when I started thinking. It came to a point of 4 days later and I was still thinking about it and how I 100% agree with her dislike. Now I don't mean Just as in the definition of fairness. I mean the just as the way you limit things. Think about it, how many times have you put just in front of something.

I just have my associates degree

I am just 19

I am just a waitress

I am just studying for now

I am just living with my parent

There are a lot more where those came from. Think about how much that takes away from our worth. I am being completely honest when I say that I am 100% guilty of this. Many including myself struggle with self worth and when we speak to others using the word just we aren't helping ourselves at all. Behind each of the sentences I mentioned is a whole story and so much more. I am sure that I have even said things like that to others with good intent but I know I feel ashamed when they are thrown at me. We are all striving for the better things in life and have all been through so much. One of my greatest hopes is that the next time just pops into your head that we all take a look at our story, how we got here, and really think. Don't make the mistake that so many of us make by making ourselves feel unappreciated or devalued.

P.S. Sorry it has been a while sense my last post. I just finished my Finals for school and life got a bit crazy but I am back! (Plus I got 100% on all my finals so pretty excited!!)
