Are you wanting to make a live video but are too scared to try it out? Well, I was in same about two weeks ago. I had a school project in which we were to do a Live Video on Facebook. Below are some tips and tricks I learned.

Step #1: Practice!!!

My first live video was a tutorial on how to make Cheesy Bacon Ranch Potatoes. First and Foremost, I was so nervous that I had a very hard time looking into the camera along with stumbling over my words a bit. Practice makes perfect! Have a bullet list of talking topics and practice into your camera before going live make sure you’re looking into the camera. Step #2: Have a purpose for you video.

Look at the Target to the Left. That outer ring is the obvious purpose. Go back to my first live video. The purpose was to teach how to cook that recipe. Although, that wasn’t the only purpose. Each ring going into the middle should have a purpose until you reach the middle. Figure that out what you main goal is and you will be set!

Step #3: When you promote ahead of time make sure your Links work!

This was a big mistake that I made. I got on a few days before my live video and promoted it on Facebook and Instagram. I set up my links the Event page I had set up. When it came to the day of, I got on and completed my video. While I had people say they were going to join my live video I went all the way through without a single viewer. When I looked back at the link it didn’t work. I was able to post the video so others could watch it, but it lost the live effect. Be careful and check those little details.

Step #4: Limit the amount of distractions that you have!

One of the reasons I believe that I had a hard time looking into the camera was for this exact reason. While I set up my recipe on the counter, I still was searching for things I needed next which just made me more nervous. So, when you complete your live video put away any possible distractions.

Step #5: Don’t forget you have a support system

Going live can be nerve wrecking. Some may worry that others will judge them. Don’t forget about your friends and family. They will always be there to support you. I was so nervous but after posting my video I got so many kind words.
